Dwengo's second birthday!
Dwengo is celebrating its birthday today. Exactly two years ago, Karel, Michiel, Wim, Sean, Francis and I founded Dwengo vzw.
Time to look back ...
The past two years were very successful for Dwengo. We have reached some of our initial goals.
We have developed the best starterkit for people who want to start experimenting with microcontrollers. Our Dwengo starterkit supports hobbyists taking their first steps in programming microcontrollers. It helps teachers by making their informatics course more fun ...
We successfully introduced the Dwengo board in the education system. Today, 29 Belgian schools and several Dutch schools are using Dwengo in one way of another: for individual students making their dissertation, for group work, in the physics class. Nearly 100 teachers followed our train-the-trainer session 'Build a robot in your classroom'. We went into partnerships with several important organisations in the field: RTC
, KlasCement
, VeLeWe
, ...
Dwengo also found its way to the hobbyist user. In a partnership with the Workshop Electronics
, Dwengo vzw powered two robot competitions
. Our forum has more than 250 members.
We are also very proud of the results YOU obtained with the Dwengo board. Thank you! Youtube features more than 30 videos
of projects made with the Dwengo board. More success stories?
Let us know!.
The road ahead ...
For 2011 we have a few more projects in the pipeline.
Recently Microchip launched a beta version of MPLab X
, which brings microcontroller development to Linux and Mac OS X. Dwengo actively supports this beta programme. On this blog, we will keep you posted about the evolutions at Microchip ...
We get a lot of feedback on our light-eating robot tutorial. This inspired us to develop a sensor board, a sensor library and a few more tutorials, specifically targeted at building robots.
Another exciting project is our software platform. We are extending the possibilities to program the Dwengo board from the C language
, to a flowchart based programming
approach.
You see, we have a lot of projects in the pipeline and a lot of work to do ...

Send us an email and get involved!.
kind regards
Peter
